Forgetful People
There is a song that i love to listen to that i think is written with more such honesty and love than anything i listen to.
This song is a song by Underoath, and i know that you are thinking, “They are terrible” “Scremo Fags” “How can you consider them music?”
Whatever you want call them is your choice, but i challenge you to listen to just one of their songs: Too Bright To See Too Loud To Hear.
The song speaks for itself…
“Good God, if your song leaves our lips, If your work leaves our hands, Then we will be wonders and vagabonds, They will stare and say how empty we are, How the freedom we had turned us up as dead men, Let us be cold, make us weak, Let us, because we all have ear, Let us, because we all have eyes, How they knew that this would happen, We’re so run down, Good God! Can you still get us home…, How can we still get home, I’m not dreaming, We’re forgetting our forgiveness.”
The song ends on this screaming line of, “We’re forgetting our forgiveness.”
Oh how true this is. How often do we forget our purpose? How often do we get lost in life? How often do we forget that we can always run to God?
I sin. We all do, but i pray that we never forget God. I pray that no matter how far we have run from God, that we never forget He is right there when we turn around. Loving us as we are.
I also pray though that we don’t forget our purpose here. Our mission. That we live each day knowing our forgiveness, and taking that to fuel us to let God work through us.
May we remember.
